If you're only looking at one SNMP OID (say, UPS temperature), you can use the Basic OID probe to monitor that OID and set the probe state based on thresholds you put in. If you want to monitor several OIDs you'll need to make a custom probe. It's pretty straightforward - there's even a (Mac OS 9) tool to help you create one. Check the docs.
Paging works off of the probe state and the way you've set up the alert in InterMapper. You don't actually send pages directly from a probe - you tell IM to send pages when a probe changes state. I'm currently working on a custom probe for UPSes that implement the standard UPS MIB. When I'm done I'll send it in, and perhaps you'll be able to use it unmodified. At the least you can use it as a basis for your own custom probe. BTW, what variables did you want to monitor? I'll see if they're in the UPS MIB (RFC 1628) and perhaps add them to my probe. Is there a way? IM 4.0.5 on X 10.2.6 James P.
