Ed,

The method that James is describing is available in the current versions of InterMapper, both the java clients (Remote and Console) and the Traditional Mac product. Looking in my copy of the 3.6 manual, it looks like it should be available in the version you are using as well. If it consistently fails to work, then there may be a bug, and it could be worth moving to the latest version.

the global SNMP change is already built in, and has been for as long as i can remember...

1) select devices
2) control click one of them
3) set community

Yes, a global change would be great! Last year we changed the community strings in our entire WAN (700 SNMP devices) in an hour via software scripting. But it took us a full day's work to get IM matched up.

SNMP community-string changing

In our network we use about 200 network devices. Recently we decided to change the snmp- strings for security reasons.

It would be a great help when is was possible to change a few variables in bulk

- the community-string
- the probe-type

I have also encountered the following problems

- disappearing of device-interfaces in the Maps because of changing de
snmp-community or snmp-probe

I understand de logic of rebuilding a device when changing the probe,
but when you choose to stop polling or change it for testing in
ping-probe there must be a possibility to stop the rebuilding.
Also could it be useful to build a delay in de rebuilding system and a
 warning with a yes/no button.
Building maps cost me a lost of time !!!!!!!

I have further more request. The question is there a overview of the
 user-requests so I can make a list?

with regards Hans Heger RIVM the Netherlands
