Tim:

For IM Traditional, the screen rectangles for each map and chart window are stored in the 'automatic' portion of the map file. These saved window positions are updated when you close the map, regardless of whether you elect to save changes or not.

For IM Console/Remote, the screen rectangles for each map and chart window are stored locally in a preference file.

It may make sense to support a 'Save Window Positions' command in IM Traditional that saves the current window positions for all open maps and charts in a central preference file, only at your command. Once saved, these settings would override the window positions stored in the map file.

The other day I spent quite some time positioning my maps and charts on several screens. Unfortunately, because we just moved into new premises, some of the cabling needed to be rejigged and my machine rebooted with only one screen attached. All the maps and charts repositioned themselves on the one screen and I have to re-do all that boring work <sob>.

Where are the screen positions for maps and charts stored? Assuming nothing else changes, which files would I save after doing this tedious work and then restore if for some reason (such as shipping the machine off with *one* screen to a demo location) map/chart positions get lost or otherwise screwed up? This is 4.2 running under OSX 10.3.4.
