Hello- Regarding using a network as a reference point:
If all the devices on a map are connected to one network, and all the devices go down, but the network/subnet itself is still reachable because other devices that are not shown can be reached, will the network object on the map function accurately? In other words, when does InterMapper consider a network object unreachable? I would assume it's when all displayed devices with links to it are unreachable. If my assumption is right, then I've answered my own question :-O, but I just wanted to make sure. Thanks, Mark - Mark C. If you have a device as the reference point, and that device goes down, the adjacent networks are not shadowed. This should be coded as a special case, but it is not. I will fix this bug in 4.2.3. If a device is a reference point, and it goes down, all downstream networks and links should be shadowed, but the device itself will remain un-shadowed (so it can send notifications). Another work-around is to set a network as the reference point instead of the switch.
