Is the switch a layer 3 switch?

If so, check the device's properties (Command-I or Ctrl-I for PC's) and
check the "Map Device As:" box to see if it's being monitored as a
"Router" instead of as a "Switch." I have HP ProCurve layer 3 switches
in my network which don't report utilization unless they are monitored
as switches and not routers. There might be more I can do with the
MIB's offered, but that is what comes up by default.

Thanks,
 Mark P.

Subject: [IM-Talk] Switch Port Utilization Monitoring

I think I need some help configuring IM to monitor the utilization of a
port
on a managed switch. The switch is a Dell 3324, and I'd like to chart
the
incoming and outgoing utilization. I've got the port specifically
showing
on the map, and Intermapper shows the marching ants between the switch
and
the port, but the statistics pop-up box shows all utilization at 0%.

Thoughts?
