Currently, the way to acknowledge a device is via one of the clients (Console, Remote, or Traditional). I believe it would also be possible soon with some of the import/export features in development, though in a roundabout way.
We have had requests before to be able to acknowledge a device via the web or a command-line. I will pass your email on to the developers as an enhancement request (ER) to gage the interest in doing something like this.
