Sorry to be so silent... :-/
We use an older Nokia [industrial] phone with a serial interface, via
a Wintel PC.
A guy at our company made an interface we can send to via HTTP, so
that's how I send SMS's.
(curl http://myserver/sendsms.asp?phone=12345678&message=${message})
I guess a combination of a Bluetooth cable phone and BluePhoneElite
would also do the trick, although one that work over serial/usb would
eliminate the BT going down.
We actually got one of those 'teenage' subscriptions with high talk-
time cast and free SMS', and since we don't ever talk in the phone,
it's basically a free SMS service... :-) Shhhhhhhh!
And we don't have to rely on the PBX/PSTN sytem to work...
Update: BPE is not scriptable (yet), but maybe via a MySQL db using:
