We have IM servers running on both Debian and Windows. Both are stable and reliable.
The problem is with VMWare. While VMWare is great for a variety of operations, we don't find it appropriate for IM. We depend on the exact accuracy of the logs and charts in IM for tracking down network issues. Use whatever OS you like, but our recommendation is get it on its own hardware platform. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Doug Sent: Tuesday, January 30, 2007 10:50 AM To: InterMapper Discussion; [email protected] Cc: Brian Megel Subject: Re: [IM-Talk] Intermapper running Debian 3.1 under VMWare having clocking issues At 11:33 1/30/2007, Brian Megel wrote: >All: > >We are having some serious clock issues with our new Intermapper server >running Debian Linux 3.1 as a VMWare guest on a Windows Host. Windows is not reliable as a stable operating system. FreeBSD is most stable for NTP use.
