Apple's newest Airport Extreme (the rectangular one that supports 802.11n), along with its updated administration software, now has a configuration field specifically for an SNMP community string. Good news, because it means you no longer need to send your base station's configuration password out over the network just to check the health status of the unit.

I can confirm that it responds and provides interface information when interrogated with the stock SNMPv2 probe. Because this probe isn't geared toward WiFi, however, you won't see a list of connected clients and signal strengths.

Are there any plans to update or introduce a newer version of the "Apple Airport Extreme probe" for the 802.11n edition of the AEBS?
