Michael, There is a user-contributed probe on our website, a High Traffic probe, that you might want to have a look at. There are two actually; one measures in bytes per second and one in packets per second. This probe will provide a notification when traffic on a certain port/interface exceeds thresholds and give alarms when that interface goes down. You can download the probes from this link:
