Hi, If you have for example a router on a map, and also a switch that is attached to it, make sure you polling them using one of the SNMP probes this will allow you to see their interfaces. While you are editing the map, right click on the device and bring up it's interfaces window. You may need to select show unnumbered interfaces at the bottom left of that window. This will give you a list of all the interfaces. Unclick the ones you do not want to be visible on the map, and click or leave clicked the ones you want visible. Do this for both the router and the switch that way you can see the stats for both sides of the connection. You can also right click on the interface (probably just showing a number now), and change the label, I usually use port name or interface name. Ok now you have both interfaces, and if you right click on the line you will see the interface stats. To join these interfaces select both, then use Control_E aka ^E or the window menu to join them. That's it. You don't need to have the interface on both sides, for example if you are joining a router or switch port to a host, and you cant SNMP poll or get interface stats for the host, just join the route or switch port to the host, you will only see the interface stats for the router or switch side, but that may be good enough. So far, I'm very impressed, I really like the functionality, and have an excellent chance of getting purchase approval for it. Anyway, onto my question, I'm manually constructing my maps, and want to be able to manually define the linkages between switches and routers. Now, I can use the 'Attach to' option, but that doesn't give any visibility of link utilisation statistics, which is one thing that I *really* want. Am I missing something or is it not possible to do it like this? Hope that this isn't a silly question, but I really want to be able to get the most out of this excellent piece of software and prove that it is worth spending the money on!
