I upgraded our server from 4.6.9 to 5.0.1 yesterday, and today upgraded
my IM remote as well. We're having the following issues, and wonder if
anyone has advice.
1) Map file names have all changed, adding a nonsense (to people at
least) string to the front of the file name. breaking numerous scripts
where they were listed by name. (I found no mention of this change in
the release notes, even on re-reading). Will these strings change, or
are they fixed -- ie. one set of updates to the scripts will deal with
it, or will we have to change them each time the server restarts?
This is a change introduced in 5.0. When you launch InterMapper 5.0 for the first time, each map file on disk is
prepended with a persistent 10-character "graph id". This change was made because you can nest maps in folders, which
means you can have two maps with the same name in different folders.
The format is:
g[0-9a-f]{8}-TITLE
A map file will retain its "graph id" value even when it is renamed in the InterMapper GUI. Scripts that access specific
maps by name in the Maps directories will need to be updated once for 5.0.
2) Map Status probes are paging out with no data in any of the fields
except the probe label. Event, status, etc. are all blank. There
appears to be no condition triggering the page that we're finding
correlation to. Creating a new probe to replace the old one didn't make
any difference.
The notifications should be logged in the server's Event.log file; please send a snippet to [EMAIL PROTECTED] A
possibly related ACK notification bug is fixed in 5.0.2b2:
http://dartware.com/downloads/binaries?release=beta
3) when using IM remote 5.0.1 we are asked for login and password when
coming from hosts that have their IP listed in the config. using IM
Remote 4.6.9 against the 5.0.1 server we are not asked for that info.
If you haven't already, please file a bug using the Bug Reporter window in remote 5.0.1. That is, connect and
authenticate to the server using Remote, then choose Help --> Report a Bug... The Bug Reporter window will
automatically include the client log, which should indicate the "authtypes" used for the login. An authtype of
"ANONYMOUS" indicates to the client that it's not supposed to request a password.
4) The text as well as the shape of the label display with the label
color if using remote 5.0.1, rendering all our formerly black text
beside colored icons unreadable. Remote 4.6.9 displays the text in
black. I could not find a preference setting for this in IM remote.
This is a change in 5.0. Stand by for more information.

Bill Fisher
