I second this...intermapper restarts are like a loaded gun. They sporadically send false-positives to customers as the initial polling starts up.
Not being able to disable notifications from outside of Intermapper (i.e. through an API to the preferences file) is a huge shortcoming. I'm not sure if IM5 allows you to make raw changes to SQL, but it should provide a facility to make preference changes outside the GUI.
