Port monitoring of non-visible ports

I would like to request the ability to have Intermapper demonstrate errors
on a device port that is not visible on the map. This could be done via a
change in icon color and in log entries as well as click-hold on device to
show previous errors/outages as happens now with visible ports. This would
work best if a device could be tagged for port monitoring, without
displaying the ports on the map, and an option to ignore port up/down (most
useful on switches). Only errors would be desired to be monitored. Also,
selecting, perhaps from the interfaces window, which ports to monitor, or an
option for all ports.

This would help to identify ports attached to servers that are either
mis-configured (at the switch or server), or to identify failing
ports/GBICs. We have a large server room with hundreds of servers attached
to many switches. This type of information would help with proactive
monitoring of troubled ports that often come to us as intermittent
connectivity or bandwidth issues. A history of errors on a port would be
helpful.

Our maps are very large and do not lend themselves to the display of every
port on a switch/router for monitoring. A switchport will go up/down as
devices are powered off and rebooted and so we generally are not interested
in that data. Our main interest is in identify ports that have high amounts
of errors. Router ports should still error on port up/down or errors (or at
least an option to choose which to display errors on).
