I'm not sure if this is covered by Andrey's request or not, but I would
like an option to hide unnumbered interfaces on the map when enabling
"display unnumbered interfaces" from the interface list. Most times, I
only want to show a few of the unnumbered interfaces, but when I turn on
"display unnumbered interfaces" all of them are show on the map, again
causing a mess that requires unnecessary cleanup.

If unnumbered interfaces are classified as newly discovered when they
are first "displayed" (the checkbox on the interface list is checked),
then this should be covered under Andrey's request and this post is
redundant. If not, consider this an additional feature request.

Thanks!!!

Subject: [IM-Talk] Autodisplay of newly discovered interfaces

Hi dear Dartware,

Please, consider this a feature request (I think I've asked for this
before).

Please, add an option to disable display of newly discovered interfaces
on a device when it's re-probed.

I'l give you and exmaple of how displaying newly discovered interfaces
is very bad:

On a map, when device is added (e.g. Cisco CAT 4509) and only uplinks
are displayed IM goes and re-probes the device every so often. Let's
assume that I added that device when it had no line cards. In other
words had only two uplink interfaces. Imagine that this is my L3 map
that only shows me routers and switches and no end devices. Everything
looks great. I then install 5 line cards into the the switch at 48 ports
each. Intermapper goes and reprobes the switch and finds 240 new
interfaces which it happily displays on the map automatically.

The result is the map is a complete mess. I have to track down all those
new interfaces and disable them.

Now imagine that for some reason this device is present on multiple
maps. Now I have to do this on all maps!!!!

So, please add an option to disable autodisplay of interfaces on a map.

Thank you
