I have seen problems with nProbe as well. You might consider using the Flow Exporter
created by our partner ProQueSys. It's a free download, and will operate on OSX
(and other platforms) just fine. Get it at:

Is there a way to set up a notifier that will let me know when the flows data
has stopped being received by the IM server?
This is a good idea and we will look into it. (There isn't a facility in InterMapper
