well, actually our Intermapper backup is done nightly and then again separately before upgrades.
At night using network backup using Symantec's Backup Exec using a Quantum DXi 3500 and de-duplication. Of course, we have open files agent, disaster recovery agent, etc installed. Then just before I do an upgrade we use Vice Vera Pro to do an immediate "right now" backup. It uses Volume Shadow Service (VSS) to get open files. I backup the server locally and to a 2nd backup Intermapper offsite before upgrading Intermapper software or Java. I know of Legato but have never used it. Which method you are following backup of the Intermapper Settings folder? Are you doing daily or weekly? When I try to do backup with legato network the InterMapper get crashed and even it is not doing automatic restart of the service. I constantly backup the Intermapper Settings folder but "they" want a more involved solution. We have a backup Intermapper that I update constantly but it is turned off waiting for the main to crash. So, "they" have just figured out that none of this is automatic. My question of the day is how to re-direct connections to Intermapper at x.y.100.50 to x.y.101.50 That would be any and all requests (not just http) that arrives to the crashed server should be sent to the new server but without the users having to do anything..... I've seen hardware and software things to do this. Any suggestion on something simple?
