I have a map where I show the link status for my server uplinks. If a link fails the switch goes into alarm status and send me an alert. On a server that has redundant connections this ensures I get an alarm if a single link fails. When I'm doing scheduled work on a server it would be nice to be able to give the link a timed ack ahead of time to prevent alarms. Right now I have to ack the entire device which is a much broader ack than I'd like.
