Hi All Dartware Folks, We'd like to change the behaviour of the "Map Status" probe.
As it stands right now, the probe connects to the server/map and gets a list of all up/down/major/minor/etc... and "bubbles up" the most severe problem. It prints out a nice list of total devices/down devices/etc.. on it's status window. As an ISP - we sometimes have sub-maps which contain just a bunch-o-customers; some of which are up, and some of which are down (people sometimes power off their end-device). We'd like to adjust the behaviour of the map status probe to do something like the following: Out of 20 Devices, if 5 are down, then change to major, if 3 are down, then minor, if 15 are down, mark as flashing-red-down, etc... Basically, we'd like to set a calculative/threshold on the number of devices within the sub-map that would trigger a critical/major/minor/etc.. Now - here's the hard part: This probe is an "internal probe", and as such, we're not privy to the "secret sauce" that Dartware uses in order to make this probe function. Leads to two options: (1) Can Dartware "open up" this part of the probe/etc.. so that we can adjust it's behaviour, and/or write our own replacement Map-Status Probe? (i.e. release it to us) (2) Could Dartware add the functionality we're asking for into the base map-status probe? (i.e. add some % threshold values to trigger minor/major/critical/down). Thanks in Advance - Chris.
