Hi Debbie, The policies apply only to data in the database; existing chart data in IM servers exporting to the database is unaffected. Starting over with a fresh database drops some information, like entries for deleted devices; anything that IM itself doesn't keep, and therefore can't re-export to the database.
The Reports right-click menu option was added in 5.4, so that's why you aren't seeing it. I have one retention question. If I set original data down to 1 week on imdc, does that change what's on the intermapper server itself? basically if I mess up and realize I need something different than what I started with in imdc, can I start again by deleting the database again, or will the server now only keep 1 week's worth of info, and I can never "fetch it over" again? I'm not finding the reports drop down on devices on the server. is that part of 5.4? we've been hesitant to move our server to 5.4 right away, as there were a lot of problems the first 2 revs. it looks like 5.4.2 isn't seeing quite the list of issues, but we'll probably wait until the end of the semester is past to change it, just incase.
