I really like how in RemoteAccess I can set Double Click and have a HelperApp on a device so that I can simply double click on the device and launch apps such as PuTTY, Remote Desktop or a web browser. The problem with InterMapper maps is that inside a browser is when you click on a device, you get a Status Page for the device. If you click an object that is a Map Status object, at least that directs you to that Maps web page.
What I would really like to see in a future release of InterMapper is the ability to click on a device and have the device take you to another website or launch an application, similar to RemoteAccess. Linux, OS X and Windows allows you to associate file types to applications, and the O/S will launch those applications after the file of a given type is downloaded. If the HelperApp had the option of loading a configuration file, the configuration file could be linked in the InterMapper webpage and then be downloadable. In that way, when clicking the device the configuration file would be downloaded to the browser, and in turn, the configuration file would cause the O/S to launch the associated application for the file.
