A couple notes about Splunk and InterMapper: 1) We have a new version of the InterMapper App for Splunk. You can retrieve version 1.1 from the Splunkbase application store at: http://splunk-base.splunk.com/apps/51549/splunk-app-for-network-monitoring-and-mapping This version decreases the load on the InterMapper server, works better with UTF-8 data, and is easier to configure.
A lot of InterMapper customers have asked for a feature to handle syslogs. By partnering with Splunk, InterMapper now works a world-class log file management facility. Splunk lets you process huge volumes of log file data, not only syslogs, but web server log files, Windows and Unix server logs, and virtually any other log file format. When you install the InterMapper App for Splunk, you can correlate specific devices with related log file entries. The best part is that you can get started for free. Splunk doesn't charge if your log file data is less than 500 MBytes a day, and you can simply retrieve the data from your existing InterMapper server.
