Well, it's pretty frustrating for 64-bit platform users that PHP 4.3 is a b*tch to work with and gets worse and worse. This means more and more manual labour for users trying to install PHP (basically all the steps after downloading have problems: configuring, compiling, testing, installing, using). Despite bug reports and patch posts, the existing developers don't *appear* (from my vantage point) to have to time or test platforms to deal with this. Therefore, no one is committing fixes. In fact, it's getting worse.
