I think it's a valid concern, but using dl() for it is not good, at least in its present form. By the way, how exactly do you plan to use dl() for that? Making auto_prepend that dl()'s it, or what? I do not know particular details of implementation of one command in one particular language, which you brought up to make your point. That means you failed to make your point to me. Your behaviour is like if I would start to talk to you on Ukrainian and when you couldn't get what I say I said "it's good to learn languages, you know".
