Slightly unrelated, I think this is the case where a bug like #32553
probably hits the users much, much harder than the references problem,
isn't included in an official release (or mentioned at php.net) and
has bugged users for two months now, would add to the "PHP5 is
beta"-consideration.

For the sake of the references-fix, I suppose it's a case of DIYDDIYD.
I agree with Zeev regarding the importance of the wording in the
release notes.
