We'll need to review the phar before release. It definitely must be in 5.3, but it should be improved, and this improvements may require some changes in ZE. For now packed phpMyAdmin is 4 times slower than unpacked (with and without opcode cache). I'm going to assign next week to ext/phar. Thanks.
