I start the "control flow lines" always on column 0 (similar to C
preprocessor instructions), what gives the desired output and is quite
readable:
<table>
<?php foreach($rows as $row): ?>
<tr>
<?php foreach ($row as $column): ?>
<td><?=htmlspecialchars($column)?></td>
<?php endforeach; ?>
</tr>
<?php endforeach; ?>
</table>
