Skills Required and Job Description:
Candidates must be within 8hrs of Chicago.
Preferred Experience / Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related area;
- 5+ years experience in software quality assurance, preferably in an Agile-like environment, with strong experience writing manual and some experience writing and executing automated test cases;
- 2-3 years of recent experience in testing web services, preferably with a large scale transactional system that had multiple web services and each service had multiple methods
- 2-3 years of recent experience with test automation. Understand the general concepts of test automation, when and how it’s appropriate to use test automation and how automation fits in with an overall quality assurance processes
- Experience using SoapUI tool for performing web service calls; Plus would be experience using SoapUI to create a suite of automated test cases.
- Solid understanding of software development life cycle, where QA and testing fits in with that life cycle; knowledge of different types of testing functional, regression, integration, smoke etc.
- Solid understanding of defect management and experience following a defect through from creation to closure.
- Strong SQL skills with MS SQL Server; Must be able to perform basic to complex select statements with joins of multiple database tables and perform update and insert to databases to create test data
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; Needs to be proactive and assertive in getting the information needed to perform QA duties if requirements are not completed defined.
- Ability and aptitude to learn quickly and work within a team environment
- Ability to keep up with a quickly changing environment of tasks and priorities
