*Senior Cisco Network Engineer*

*3 month contract with expected extension*

They will be responsible for support, troubleshooting, new project
deployments and new installs. This role is Networking Engineering on the
customer side, not ops however it is part of the generalist role.

Looking for a true engineer, not just a support person although the
description may come across as more support. This person will be doing
enhancements, design work, design implementation, and configuration with
Nexus and Load balancer.



*MUST HAVE:***

·         Cisco Switches Nexus, 6509 (most recent versions)

·         Cisco ACE Load balancer or some load balancing technology
experience

·         Nexus 2K, 5K and 7K

·         10 Years of Network Engineering background Expert knowledge level

·         Tier 3 Engineering talent

*Cisco Data Center LAN Support Engineer*

*Position Responsibilities*

*Operations First*

·         Function as a data center switching, routing, and application
load balancing tier 3 engineer for the Mars Global Data Center Cisco
environment consisting of >150 switches supporting >2000 devices. Switching
environment includes Nexus 7000, Nexus 5000, Cat 6500, Cat 3750, and more.

·         Troubleshoot and quickly resolve complex data issues as they
occur, interacting interaction with our tier 2 help desk, site support
technology teams, and customers as needed.



*Continuous Improvement*

·         Participate and manage multiple, simultaneous Data Center LAN
improvement projects and activities, delivering timely results.

·         Requires ability to work within a team and individually,
regularly communicating engineers in the DC LAN and other infrastructure
teams, informing of supervisor.

·         Requires precise planning and execution of changes to prevent
unexpected downtimes.

·         Activities include Catalyst to Nexus migrations, switch
consolidations, Catalyst and Nexus code upgrades.

·         Configuration and continuous improvement of network management
tools, including Solarwinds NPM, Solarwinds NTA, and Cisco ACS 5.2.

·         Development and implementation of training to Tier 2 and other
staff.



*Consulting and Fulfillment*

·         Provide consulting and fulfillment of load balancing and other
data center LAN solution for infrastructure and application teams in Cisco
ACE environment.

·         Produce design documentation, including network diagrams and
explanations, for all projects.

*Availability*

·         While the majority of the role is fulfilled during standard
business hours (8-5), at times on call support / evening hours / weekend
hours are required.



*Technical Skill Requirements *

·         Strong understanding of network concepts, especially Ethernet,
VLANs, STP, port channel, port span, QoS, TCP/IP, EIGRP, BGP, DNS, and load
balancing.

·         Data center storage and SAN skills including FCoE a plus.

·         Proven experience in implementing and troubleshooting Cisco
switching and routing environments, including implementing hardware and
code upgrades, troubleshooting network configuration and performance
issues, troubleshooting software issues, and troubleshooting Cisco hardware
performance issues.

·         Proven experience in implementing and troubleshooting load
balancing environments for server farm / application load balancing. Cisco
ACE load balancing experience a plus.

·         Ability to create and update detailed network topology maps using
MS Visio and maintain support documentation.

·         Experience in implementing and updating various network
management tools such as Solarwinds, NetFlow Manager, monitoring and
alerting tools.Server and operating systems skills a big plus.

·         Strong experience working in a support environment, using various
ITIL processes and tools (incident management, change management, etc.) in
a large enterprise environment is a must.

·         CCNP certification a plus.

·         Must have an attitude and constant desire for improvement in
technology and process, to not be content with the status quo when
improvements would add value. Must have willingness and able to identify
opportunities, communicate them appropriately, and turn them into
deliverables.

·         Ability to manage and deliver against multiple priorities, at
times for multiple managers. Candidate must be able to manage time
appropriately across these multiple activities and communicate status and
deliver against expectations. All risk / slippages should be communicated
well ahead of time.

·         Ability to work independently or in a team. Must have the ability
to develop and deliver against action plans with minimal management
guidance over time. Must possess experience to know when to reach out for
guidance.

·         Ability to work inside of and take direction in a multinational,
global environment.
Strong written and oral communication skills with other technical team
members as well as non-technical people. Documentation of technology and
knowledge sharing across members of the team is essential to our global
environment.
