As part of the IT Data Exchange function, this position supports application development for data exchanges for internal and external clients. This Software Engineer IV or V receives general instructions on new projects and works autonomously to complete deliverables. Essincial Functions and Responsibilities: 1. Develops software at all layers by programming, designing and testing code to meet requirements. 2. Gains a thorough understanding of functional requirements for new software requests. 3. Works with Business Systems Analysts to understand and clarify software requirements and translate into working software. 4. Practices good software engineering techniques and standards to reduce coding errors and ensures robustness and efficiency of work products. 5. Partners with software teams in the development of the software engineering processes. 6. Works to identify and resolves technical or product problems. 7. Participates in software project meetings and provides status reports. 8. Maintains existing applications by enhancing software and troubleshooting issues. 9. Collaborates with team members and partners with others as needed to ensure successful completion of assigned software development tasks. Special skills required • Excellent working knowledge of a variety of currently used programming languages such as PL/SQL and Unix Scripting. • Solid UNIX command level experience. Shell scripting and build automation knowledge. • Thorough knowledge of software methodologies, distributed networking, databases, communications, and multiprocessing applications. • ORACLE, UNIX and/or Windows environments • Object Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) is a plus, Distributed Software Architecture • Strong proficiency in database interfacing and relational database management systems (RDBMS such as Oracle or similar).
