*Role & Responsibilities:*
The Sr Solutions architect will be responsible for three activities (in
order of priority)
1) Providing technical leadership in the design and development of
business-enhancing application, data, integration and technical
architectures. This role is responsible for defining and maintaining the
enterprise systems architecture and to ensure that the architecture and
roadmap meet the evolving strategic needs of the business
2) Playing the role of business relationship manager between Global
Technology Services (GTS) and one or more business units in order to create
alignment between GTS services and business strategy
3) Identifying and delivering enterprise technology solutions to meet
strategic business needs. Working with the MHE Leadership Team and Project
Management, this role will be responsible for all aspects of project
delivery including business case development, vendor selection, solution
design and implementation
*Mandatory / Desirable Technical & Functional Skills *
Solutions Architecture
• Define and manage future state architecture and
application strategy for enterprise systems
• Provide guidance around the technical solution architectures
across enterprise system projects. Responsible for ensuring the proposed
architectures fit within the MHE’s standards and enterprise application
strategy
• Provides leadership and technical guidance in the
pursuit of solutions to meet the MHE business needs
• Conducts research on new and emerging
technologies for practical application to business problems and strategic
initiatives
• Reviews current technology architecture and seeks ways to
leverage, improve and/or extend corporate technology investments and
processes
• Works with management in establishing technical directions and
strategies that ensure cross-platform architectural components properly
“fit” within the enterprise to achieve the maximum benefit
Business Relationship Management
• Act as a connector, orchestrator, and navigator
between GTS and one or more business units
• Represent IT within the business to maintain a high degree of
visibility and alignment by attending business meetings and appropriate
management forums
• Understand business strategy, identify critical factors to
business success and operational effectiveness, and translate for
incorporation within the IT strategic plan
• Quantify business value of large initiatives and
communicate to GTS PMO
• Help prioritize initiatives with GTS PMO
• Advocate the IT strategy to business partners
• Communicate and understand concerns related to IT
alignment across business units
*Project Design & Delivery *
• Lead the definition of the overall scope, detailed timeline,
budget, resource requirements, etc…based on guidelines provided from the
executive team
• Work with the corporate contracts team to develop
and execute software contacts, statements of work for services, etc…
• Lead the detailed solution design based on
requirements from the business
• Work with the infrastructure team to define the
detailed infrastructure solution and revised the proposed budget/timeline
• Provide status reports & presentations to the
executive team, project management group, project steering committees, etc…
• Manage the execution of the project including the
day to day decision making.
• Work with the project manager to define,
communicate and manage Risk Plans, Communication Plans, etc….
• Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within
the project teams.
• Liaison between the project and other GTS and business unit
organizations. Responsible for ensuring other departments that may be
impacted by the project are informed, expectations are set, impacts are
funded, etc…
• Provide performance feedback on ongoing basis to
individuals on the team.
• With assistance from the project manager track,
manage and report on all financials related to the project
• Ensure Sr Management is informed of all major
project decisions, issues, etc…. in a timely manner
• Responsible for engaging other GTS organizations as needed to
support initiatives. Responsible for informing, budgeting, scheduling
related work as necessary.
• Responsible for the quality of the solution
delivered and ensuring it meets the business expectations
