*Rate*: DOE *Duration*: 6+ months Contract *Interview Mode*: Phone interview then F2F/In- person *End Client*: BCBS Association *Responsibility:* · Plan work to meet project deadlines, accommodate demands by development teams, set priorities and escalate issues appropriately · Establish SQL Programming best-practices and standards based SQL components programming templates (e.g. stored procedures, triggers, data type rules and error handling) · Conducts Performance Tuning on specific SQL and underlying Oracle system. · Assists Data Architect with physical design specifications. · Understand logical schemas and generate & maintain physical schema (tables, stored procedures, indexes etc.) as per the physical design specifications. · Supports development and testing teams with Oracle environment needs, code-promotions and code deployments. · Ensure the quality and integrity of data are maintained as design and functional requirements change. · Develop repeatable mechanism and procedures to load data for development, testing and performance engineering activities. · Develop and document Database design/implementation impacts based on system monitoring reports. · Direct and lead developers and analysts on SQL query development and tuning · Ability to participate in multiple projects concurrently · Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation), customer service-oriented · Strong problem solving skill set, and the ability to understand new technologies quickly are essential · Monitor database management systems as well as evaluating database performance to maximize efficiency · Work in an environment that practices strict change management · Provide recommendations to application development teams for data restructuring and performing complex maintenance · Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum and participates in Agile/Scrum · Deploy and manage changes in development, staging and production · Involve in a rotation for on-call after hour for database support · Design and optimize database and table partitioning strategy · Design and fine tune SQL execution plans for best performance · Design table structure (including indexing strategy) to optimize SQL execution with focus on Java/Cognos/ETL performance · Design rollout and migration strategies for new and existing applications · Enforce best practices in database development with focus on performance and security · Establish protocols to monitor performance (e.g. ADDM Analysis) *Required Skills* · The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of hands-on experience with DB2 UDB v9.7 or later and DB2 utilities. · 5+ years of database design and modeling for data warehouses and OLTP databases, includes: definition, structure, documentation, maintenance, long-range requirements, operational guidelines and protection. · Provide technical expertise when interfacing with teams and technologies that utilize and integrate with the databases. · Provide problem remediation and root cause analysis for DB2 issues · Expertise in optimize performance of DB2 databases is required. · Excellent DB2 trouble shooting and performance analysis skills are vital to this position. · Flexibility to work with various technical and business user teams to enhance enterprise application and database performance and security is required. · Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. · Excellent in SQL tuning. · Monitoring, analysis, and tuning of DB2 UDBe databases and tuning of SQL to achieve optimum performance. · Extensive knowledge of data integration and processing including extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) using Data Stage, Informatica or Ab Initio. · Outstanding Communications Skills. · This position provides on-call support in a 24 x 7 environment and requires coverage after normal hours and on weekends. · B.S. in Computer Science of equivalent.
