The International Yoga Federation (World Yoga
Community) was founded in Montivideo, Uruguay, in
1987. The International Yoga Federation (World Yoga
Community) was originally founded under the name
"International Professional Yoga Teachers Federation"
and the name was changed to "World Yoga Union" in 1996
and to International Yoga Federation (World Yoga
Community) in 2002. Today the International Yoga
Federation (World Yoga Community presents itself as an
international organisation
The main purpose of the International Yoga Federation
(World Yoga Community) is to serve as an international
"umbrella" organisation concerned with the promotion
and dissemination of results and findings in the field
of yoga science and their practical application in
sicentific, social, artsitic,cultural and educational contexts.
