Young Sandy's comment had me pondering for a moment. Then I came up with my
own - BBC radio from the early 60's. As a kid I listened mainly to the Home
Service (a little later to become Radio 4) and the Light Service (ditto
Radio 2.)

Oddly enough, even so late in the century, a great deal of the programming
still had a strong flavor of the 40's to it. Especially Two Way Family
Favourites - Empire still existed, tunes being played for troops in Aden,
Cyprus, Gib., etc.

Ah, my, how the world changes.

Oddly enough, the Gibraltar Broadcasting Service today still sounds a lot
like that long-ago BBC.

I don't know if it's just a function of my age but I do "look back" on the
radio of the 1980's and 90's as a golden age!
