Many of us might be freezing here in North America, but Down Under it's summer, glorious summer. ABC Radio National (several of whose programs are carried by Radio Australia) has come up with an ingenious idea for those who wish to stay engaged intellectually while they vacation. They call it the "Beachpod"--a selection of downloadable feature programs from the past year organized into nine different topic areas. (There's also a link to last "summer's" selection in case you find yourself a year behind in your listening. Of course, Radio National is one of the few, elite (yes, I said "elite") radio networks in the world dedicated to ideas, so you know the programs will be fascinating across a broad spectrum. So, while the weather may be "frightful" here, as the song says, get out that MP3 player or iPod and load up on life-affirming information to keep (at least your brain) warm!
