It's indeed the hosted nature of the app - no PC needed - that seemed unique about DAR.fm. AFAIK Stitcher just takes podcasts (already packaged for download) and 'stitches" them together. While no PC (or smartphone) is needed), DAR.fm is doing this for live streams and can do so unattended. That's the (apparently) unique part.
As Messrs. Pogue and Webster muse, it will be interesting to see how the business model "scales", as they say...
