A Google News alert that I receive daily on the text "BBC World Service" led me to poke around at the radio festivals and see if they had content available for listening...turns out they do.
The New York Festivals umbrella includes what used to be called the Sony Radio Festival, I believe; while the 2013 awards were given out last June, there is nonetheless a fine crop of award-winning radio there for your perusal. Check out http://www.newyorkfestivals.com/worldsbestradio/2013/ for the award-winning programming. Ironic that one of the awards went to Radio Netherlands - which, of course, doesn't exist any more as we know it - for a piece on "The State We're In", which has now been reincarnated as a podcast available from Chicago's WBEZ public radio station. You can also check out the Third Coast Festival's website for distinctive radio, and a weekly radio documentary series, also from Chicago's WBEZ, called "Re:sound".
