I’m curious to see if the app gets any traction. It’s a crowded world for radio apps these days.
Searching for “radio news” doesn’t bring it up in the top 100 yet. I did find searching for 1radio. It does have a decent rating at 4.4 and about 1,000 downloads so far. The “pro” version goes for $2 and has 10 (ten) downloads so far. It isn’t clear if it is associated in any way with the 1radio aggregator which has a number of music stations including Sinatra, Dance, and others. (Aside: the streams for stations at 1radio.mobi are still alive and you can find them on Shoutcast but the web site seems to be offline.) All of which brings me to another not direct point that it has always baffled me that directory services such as vTuner, Reciva, Shoutcast etc. have never been able to produce a competitive app. At least for Shoutcast there are functional apps by XiiaLive and L337Tech. -- -Rob de Santos From: Internetradio [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Richard Cuff Sent: Saturday, December 13, 2014 3:24 PM To: Figliozzi, John A. - NASWA; Internet radio discussion; Thomas Witherspoon Subject: [Internetradio] Twin Cities developer creates 'shortwave radio' app for world news - TwinCities.com Shared link: http://www.twincities.com/technology/ci_27126299/new-app-creates-smartphone-shortwave-radio-world-news Interesting how the "shortwave" analogy is used...even though few of the likely users have ever been near a shortwave radio...
