I’m curious to see if the app gets any traction. It’s a crowded world for radio 
apps these days.  

 

Searching for “radio news” doesn’t bring it up in the top 100 yet. I did find 
searching for 1radio. It does have a decent rating at 4.4 and about 1,000 
downloads so far. The “pro” version goes for $2 and has 10 (ten) downloads so 
far. 

 

It isn’t clear if it is associated in any way with the 1radio aggregator which 
has a number of music stations including Sinatra, Dance, and others. (Aside: 
the streams for stations at 1radio.mobi are still alive and you can find them 
on Shoutcast but the web site seems to be offline.)

 

All of which brings me to another not direct point that it has always baffled 
me that directory services such as vTuner, Reciva, Shoutcast etc. have never 
been able to produce a competitive app. At least for Shoutcast there are 
functional apps by XiiaLive and L337Tech.

Interesting how the "shortwave" analogy is used...even though few of the likely 
users have ever been near a shortwave radio...
