Job Announcement Philosophy Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations Aga Khan University - International - in the UK Aga Khan University (AKU) invites applications for full-time faculty positions at its recently established Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations (AKU-ISMC) located in London. The goal of the Institute is to strengthen research and teaching on the heritage of Muslim societies in all its historic diversity and to deepen understanding of pressing issues of public life affecting Muslim societies. Chartered in 1983 as a private international university, AKU is a part of the Aga Khan Development Network ( www.akdn.org) and currently operates teaching and research programmes in medicine, nursing, education and the humanities in seven countries. Faculty Position in Philosophy - Candidates should have a background in Western as well as Muslim philosophical traditions. Appointees will be expected to contribute to research, teaching, development of curricula and outreach activities of the Institute. Candidates should have doctoral or equivalent qualifications in the relevant field, a strong publication record with a primary focus on Muslim societies, and appropriate linguistic expertise in a language or languages relevant to Muslim societies. Candidates must be fluent in spoken and written English.
