Call for Papers "The Wisdom of Love" 2nd Biennial Conference Society for Continental Philosophy and Theology (SCPT) Wheaton, IL (USA) March 18-19, 2005
Keynote Speakers: John D. Caputo (Syracuse University) Amy Laura Hall (Duke University Divinity School) Continental philosophy of religion has recently turned to issues concerning love. We welcome papers that address such questions as: What is the difference between eros and agape? How do we practice love hermeneutically? Must a phenomenology of the other address love to be truly complete? Does love or charity reverse or radicalize intentionality? What is the relation of the three Christian virtues of faith, hope, and love? Are knowledge and love related? We encourage papers that draw on such figures as Chrétien, Derrida, Irigaray, Kierkegaard, Levinas, and Marion; such philosophical traditions as deconstruction, feminist philosophy, hermeneutics, and phenomenology; and such religious traditions as Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. Only complete papers with a maximum of 3,000 words will be accepted. Papers should be prepared for blind review and sent to [email protected] as email attachments. DEADLINE: January 7, 2005 The Society for Continental Philosophy and Theology seeks to promote inquiry at the intersection of philosophy and theology.
