This symposium will convene scholars in Central Florida who work on Africana philosophical and cultural themes. It will be a chance for people to discuss their recent work. There is no specific theme for the meeting. Featured Speakers - Emmanuel Eze, author of the books Race and the Enlightenment, and Achieving Our Humanity and founding editor of the journal Philosophia Africana. - Nkiru Nzegwu, the chair of the Africana Studies Department at SUNY Binghamton, founding chair of the International Society for African Philosophy and Studies, active curator, and scholar of Africana feminism and aesthetics. - Robin Poyner, art historian at University of Florida, co-author of A History of Art in Africa. - Kwasi Wiredu, Distinguished University Professor and African philosopher from USF and author of the books Philosophy and African Culture, Cultural Universals and Particulars, and the Blackwell Companion to African Philosophy.
