Call for Papers "Social Fragility" International Interdisciplinary Seminar Social Capital Foundation American University in Bulgaria Blagoevgrad (Bulgaria) 16-18 June 2006
The Social Capital Foundation invites all interested persons or organizations to present a paper at its upcoming international, interdisciplinary seminar on social fragility that will be held on June 16-18, 2006, at the American University in Bulgaria, in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: 1. Definitions of social fragility, 2. Components and factors of fragility and precariousness in our societies, 3. Assessment of social fragility. Is social fragility on the rise? 4. Mutations in community links, family links and social networks, 5. Moral values and social cohesion, 6. Mental and physiological public health issues, 7. Economic precariousness and social bond, 8. Ethnic and cultural contradictions, 9. Mechanisms of the emergence of new major risks. Additionally, the THRACE project (Targeting Human Research for Anchoring Cooperative Evolutions in Europe) supported by The Social Capital Foundation will be presented at the seminar. It is an investigation on how to use social capital to favor transborder cooperation in the border regions of Europe, and to elaborate appropriate tools for doing so. Deadlines: Participation is competitive. The final programme will be taylor-made on the basis of the best submissions selected according to our quality standards and criteria. Keynote speaker: Eliezer Ben-Rafael, President of the International Institute of Sociology. Opening of submissions and registrations: 1 December 2005. Closure of submissions: 15 May 2006.
