"The African Diaspora: The Quest for Human Rights"
3rd Annual Herman C. Hudson Annual Graduate Symposium
Department of African American and African Diaspora Studies,
Indiana University
Bloomington, IN (USA)
24-25 March 2006

The quest for human rights has always been a premier concern
for those of African descent in the United States as well as
within the African Diaspora. The third annual Herman C.
Hudson Annual Graduate Symposium of the Department of
African American and African Diaspora Studies at Indiana
University seeks abstracts of papers exploring these issues
from interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary perspectives for
presentation at its two-day, international conference on
Friday, March 24, 2006 and Saturday, March 25, 2006. We are
interested in topics that explore questions pertaining to
the cultural, intellectual, historical, social, and
political experiences of African descent and African origin
people in the U.S. and the broader African Diaspora in
relation to this theme.

Interested presenters should submit a one-page abstract and
a one-page CV. Panel proposal should include a description
of the panel's theme, a one-page abstract of each paper, the
name of the panel chair, and a one page CV for each
participant. A minimal fee will be charged per participant.
All abstracts should include academic affiliation of each
participant.

All materials should be sent to the attention of: Giva A.
Wilkerson and Amina McIntyre and postmarked, faxed, or
e-mailed no later than, Friday, January 20, 2006.
