"Pogge and His Critics"

Professor Thomas Pogge is well known as one of the most
influential philosophers working on issues of global justice
today, in addition to his work on the philosophy of John
Rawls. Pogge's publications include several major works,
including Realizing Rawls, World Poverty and Human Rights,
John Rawls, as well as Freedom from Poverty as a Human Right
and Real World Justice and articles in journals, such as
Canadian Journal of Philosophy; Ethics; Ethics and
International Affairs; Journal of Ethics; Journal of
Philosophy; Journal of Political Philosophy; Metaphilosophy;
Nous; Philosophical Quarterly; Philosophy & Phenomenological
Research; Philosophy & Public Affairs; Politics, Philosophy
& Economics; Public Affairs Quarterly; and Social Philosophy
& Policy. Pogge is also Member of the Board of directors and
Executive Committee of Columbia University's Center for the
Study of Human Rights, as well as a Member of the Board of
Directors of the International Association of Bioethics.

This conference brings together Pogge with his critics,
examining the full range of his work in political
philosophy. Speakers include:

This conference is funded by the generous support of the
Association for Legal and Social Philosophy; the Newcastle
Political Philosophy Group; Newcastle's School of Geography,
Politics, and Sociology; and the University of Newcastle.
