Assistant Professor in Asian Philosophy

Assistant Professor, tenure track, beginning September 2007.
Six undergraduate courses per year (3/3). A demonstrated
record of teaching excellence and a commitment to contribute
to the field through research and publication. Salary
competitive.

AOS: One or more areas of Asian Philosophy
AOC: History of Western Philosophy.

The ability to work in the primary language(s) is important,
as is experience in cultures other than the candidate’s own.
The successful candidate will work with faculty members from
other disciplines in an interdisciplinary Asian Studies
minor. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to
teaching two core courses per semester (two sections of
either Questions in Ancient and Medieval Philosophy or
Questions in Modern and Contemporary Philosophy), as well as
one course per semester in the candidate’s area of
specialization.

Send complete dossier including (1) a curriculum vitae; (2)
a transcript showing graduate coursework; (3) a writing
sample; (4) a statement describing one’s teaching philosophy
and research plans, and (5) three letters of recommendation
to Dennis Keenan.

Review of applications will begin on December 1, 2006.
Selected applicants will be interviewed at the APA Eastern
Division (in Washington, D.C.).
