Call for Papers "Plotinus and the Confluence of Traditions" International Colloquium Centre for Ancient and Medieval Philosophy and Department of Classical Philology of "Babes-Bolyai" University Cluj-Napoca (Romania) 23-25 May 2007 __________________________________________________ The Centre for Ancient and Medieval Philosophy and the Department of Classical Philology of "Babes-Bolyai" University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania organize the International Colloquium Plotinus and the Confluence of Traditions Cluj-Napoca, Romania, 23-25 May 2007 The initiative of the Centre of Ancient and Medieval Studies of the "Babes-Bolyai" University to accomplish the complete translation of the plotinian works is accompanied by a research and evaluation program regarding the birth and evolution of ancient Neo-Platonism and its contribution to the confluence of Greek, Arab and Latin traditions in the configuration of medieval European culture. The underlying intention of this research is the assimilation of the great traditions of thinking generated by Neo-Platonism in the Eastern European cultural space, and thus the translation of plotinian works into Romanian offers the formal frame of the necessary dialogue. Eligibility: The applicants must have PhD diploma or to be PhD students in philosophy or other relevant domains. Submission of applications: The printed form and the abstract will be sent by e-mail or mail till the 15th April 2007. Incomplete filled forms or forms arrived after the deadline will not be considered. After the arrival of the form, the candidate will receive an e-mail confirmation. Participation: The accepted candidates will fill the registering printed form and will pay 100 Euro fee for participation with at least 2 weeks before the event. This fee will cover only the participation costs, accommodation and meals. Other information: The costs of traveling are to be taken in charge by the participant. The organizers will provide accommodation, meal and transportation for the period of colloquium only for the registered participants. The papers will be published.
