Call for Papers "Law and Philosophy: Moral, Legal and Political Perspectives" International Conference University of Stirling Stirling, Scotland (UK) 29 June - 1 July 2007 __________________________________________________ Keynote Speakers: Richard Dagger (Arizona State University) Matthew Kramer (Cambridge University) The conference is intended to bring together postgraduate students from a variety of disciplines working within the multiple intersections of law and philosophy. We invite the submision of papers on any philosophical topic within this area. Among possible topics to be discussed are the following: - Criminal justice and theories of punishment - Paternalism and legal moralism - Theories of rights - Theories of distributive justice - Natural law theory and legal positivism - State authority and political obligation - Conceptions of liberty - Conceptions of equality - Global justice and international law - Liberalism and value pluralism - Citizenship and national identity - War and terrorism SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: Papers should be submitted by email to [email protected]. The deadline for submissions is 7th April 2007. Papers should be in either Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF format, and should include the following as separate attachments: (1) A cover page containing the following information: a. Author's name b. Title of the paper c. Institutional affiliation d. Contact information (2) An abstract of no more than 500 words for blind refereeing. Please omit any self-identifying information within the abstract. Some of the papers from the conference may be collected in volume or in a special issue of a journal. Please indicate when you submit your abstract whether you want your paper to be considered for publication. There may be limited funds available for students not receiving support from their departments or other funding sources. Please indicate when you submit your abstract whether you will require a bursary.
