"Happiness East And West: Ethics, Agency, Identity"
4-year PhD Studentship
Philosophy Department, School of Humanities,
University of Hong Kong
Hong Kong (China)

Thanks to a special funding initiative, we will have an
opening for an outstanding philosophy student to pursue
research towards a PhD in association with a collaborative,
comparative research project titled "Happiness East And
West: Ethics, Agency, Identity." The student will be
supervised by one or more members of the project team, or
another member of the Philosophy Department. Their research
may take any philosophical approach to the notion of
happiness, but must be in some way comparative (eg.
East-West, or ancient-modern). Team members are: Dr Timothy
O'Leary; Professor Chad Hansen; Professor Jiwei Ci; and a
Post-Doctoral Fellow commencing July 2007.

Prospective applicants should contact Dr Timothy O'Leary
([email protected]) in the first instance, and then apply
through HKU Graduate School, meeting a deadline of either
May 31st, or September 31st, 2007. It is hoped the student
could commence in early 2008.
