Call for Applications Career Development Fellowship in Chinese Philosophy Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Oxford Oxford (UK) __________________________________________________ Board of The Faculty of Oriental Studies and British Inter-University China Centre, in association with the Queen's College Grade 6: Salary £23,002 - £27,465 P.A. The University of Oxford proposes to appoint a Career Development Fellow in Chinese Philosophy for four years with effect from 1 October 2007. Subject to successful completion of the four-year postdoctoral period, and provided the postholder satisfies the normal criteria for appointment to a University Lecturership, the post will subsequently be turned into a University Lecturership to be held in the Faculty of Oriental Studies. The postholder will be eligible for membership of the Queen's college during the four years of the Career Development Fellowship. The postholder will co-operate in the work of BICC and the Faculty in both term and vacation time under the direction of their respective heads. Teaching duties will consist of classical Chinese language and traditional and modern Chinese philosophy. The post will also involve organization and co-ordination of Masters courses in Classical Chinese or East Asian Studies. Research will be expected on the central role of the major works of Chinese philosophy from pre-Han times to the present in China, intellectually, politically, and culturally. Candidates should hold, or expect to hold by the start of the appointment, a doctoral degree in the area of Chinese Philosophy. They should have expertise in classical and modern Chinese and clear potential to undertake research of international quality.
