Call for Papers "Xenophobia and Other Forms of Intolerance: Nature, Causes and Ways of Their Elimination" International Conference Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science, Saint Petersburg State University Saint Petersburg (Russia) 27-28 September 2007 __________________________________________________ The department of the International political processes and Centre for studies of the human and people's rights of Saint Petersburg State University are pleased to invite all scholars and practices on humanitarian problems to attend the International Conference "Xenophobia and other forms of intolerance: nature, causes and ways of their elimination", which will be held on September 27-28, 2007 at Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science, Saint Petersburg State University, Russia. Broad circle of questions, concerning problems xenophobia, social, national, religious and other intolerance, poisoning relations between peoples, cultures and civilizations, preventing and slowing progress of as separate countries and societies, so and mankind as a whole, is expected for discussions on the Conference. Following problems are offered for discussing on the Conference: - Variety of the world, cultures and public valuables - Race, color, sex, nationality, religion, political opinions, property and social origin as factors of unity and differences - Historical forms of a xenophobia and intolerance, their roots and evolution - Social-economic factors of the rapprochement and separations of the peoples - Religion, xenophobia and intolerance - New forms of manifestation of the xenophobia and their causes - Role of the education and training in elimination of the xenophobia and shaping of tolerance - National and world politics as factors of integration and disintegration of societies and cultures - Influence of the mass medias on shaping of a cosmopolitism and xenophobia, tolerance and intolerance The circle of the problems, which will be discussed on the Conference, will not limited by enumerated subjects. It will be expanded in accordance with the demands and wishes of the participants. The working languages of the Conferences will be Russian and English. The Organizing Committee does not reimburse the travel and residence expenses of the participants. The Conference fee for the participants from Russia and Commonwealth of Independent States are 200 Rubles, the Conference fee for participants from other countries - 75 EUROS. Acquaintance with Saint Petersburg state university, visits to the memorable places, museums and theatres are planned alongside with scientific debates. Accommodation for the participants of the Conferences will be possible in the hotel and dormitories of the University. We ask you to send the applications for participation in Conferences not later than 15 May 2007, and report's theses in amount of no more than 14000 signs for publication - not later than 1 June, 2007.
